REview

One of the reasons I almost missed starting the BEDA challenge, was because I went home for the weekend. Once, I got back into Lancaster I ended up going to the movies with a group of friends.

So here's my foray into movie reviewing:

Clash of the Titans (3D)

Plot
Probably the weakest part of the movie is the pacing. The movie between the action sequences drags on. And was cliche  and predicable (I'm noting a very "Fellowship of the Rings" moment) or it didn't explain certain parts or people well enough (like how of the entirety of the Greek gods only two of them actually do anything in the movie).

Characters
The characters and the actor portrayals seemed to fit the tone of the movie. There was a couple of flaws. Firstly, other than the gods and the main character I didn't know any of the names of the characters. The second is that main female character seemed odd. Also, one point in the movie she comes in and kicks some serious ass, then about 4 seconds later is suddenly helpless (really, WTF movie?).

Visual
The movie itself and the graphics looked good. Stylistically the costumes and the general theme and style of the movie was very pleasing. My complaint for this category is the 3D. One: 3D glasses and normal glasses are not a great fashion statement. Coupled with the fact 3D movies make my head hurt. The biggest failing was that the 3D itself was kinda lame. It looked odd, things sunken into the screen looked good, but anything coming out of the screen didn't really work.

Audio
Can't complain here. The music worked. The actors' voices worked for their roles. And the way the Medusa fight sounded, may have been my favorite part of the film.

Overall
If you want to see it go for it, but save the money watch the 2D. I enjoyed most of the movie, it was somewhat dull between fight scenes, but it was by no means bad. It one of those movies that you rent and watch with a set of friends (especially if they don't mind you making commentary).

Score
4 Meyrlings out of 6
